The Customer Operations team at First Solar that she built from scratch became a 40+ person group serving a global customer base. Her department was key to the company’s efforts at increasing customer engagement and delivering high levels of customer service. As a result of her leadership abilities, these are some of the characteristics of her department that I observed:
• Engaging customers by proactively sharing information with them (for example order status, delivery dates)
• Coaching team members and building a cohesive culture • Having well-defined processes and continuous process improvement
• Intelligent use of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems and best practices
Barbara leads by example, and gives motivated individuals the opportunity to present and implement new ideas. She sets high standards for herself and her team, and gives her staff the tools and training to excel in their roles. Barbara energizes the people who work with her, and generously gives credit to her team for the results produced.
